Racing towards decarbonisation with The Posidonia Cup
Published
03 June 2024
The sails may look a bit different, but bound4blue harnessed the power of the wind once again on Friday. We participated in the 11th Posidonia Cup in Greece alongside our Greek partner, Oceanking.
The Cup, which traditionally fires the starting gun for the Posidonia exhibition (3-7 June), saw some 55 boats and some 700 senior executives and yachtsmen competing for honours across a 15 nautical mile course in the beautiful Saronic Gulf. With bound4blue’s Head of Marketing Dana Camps Valls onboard as a member of the crew, our yacht Melina performed great slicing through the azure Athens waters. Unfortunately, we had a minor accident when another racer hit us, causing us to lose the good position we had acquired at the beginning of the race.
Dana says the race was “an amazing experience”, but beyond the excitement and teamwork carries an important message to the global maritime industry as it gathers to do business in Greece:
“The Cup is a high-profile event, eagerly watched by an audience of key maritime decision makers. For bound4blue our participation underlines both our standing in the industry and our strategic goals to demonstrate the power of wind, pushing it up the agenda at the highest levels as a cost effective, efficient, and compliant way to accelerate the decarbonisation of shipping.
“The result of the race is one thing,” she smiles, “but it’s the result of our innovative suction sail technology that really counts. We look forward to connecting with as many decision makers as possible during the coming week at Posidonia, raising awareness of the unique benefits of bound4blue’s eSAIL® solution.”
